Seaside Break

An oasis of tranquillity amongst so many attractions in the Algarve: that´s the way I experienced my stay at VILA VITA Parc last September.

The wrought iron gates open, I park the car, and all of a sudden, all is well.    My intention was to make the most of my short stay here: in three days I would visit and review five golf courses.  And I was thankful when I was able to stay to recuperate and recharge my batteries at night at the VILA VITA Parc.

The journey from the airport takes about 40 minutes, or about an hour if you want to take it all in on the way. There are closer resorts to the airport, but none of them can convey the sense of peacefulness like this one.

One could spend an entire week in the resort without ever leaving it:  from the small practice range to the romantic beach nestled between the cliffs, you find everything that makes the Algarve such a popular destination. With one exception: the guests are, compared to other places, diverse and more reserved. Joyful groups of noisy golfers, which I encountered in local restaurants frequented usually by golfers, have no place here. On the other hand, the property is so vast, and with six onsite restaurants, it would be easy to avoid them.

Furthermore, with the impressive infrastructure, comes the friendly staff, who strive to offer each guest an authentic and personal experience. The waiter at the Bela Vita restaurant, located in the main building, not only remembered my name, but also my preferences and likes.  And he took the time to have an informal conversation with me, which I enjoyed very much, as I was travelling by myself.

Naturally, the reception complies with any changes to the tee-times, and offers me the advance check-in online for flight back home.  I also found these services at other hotels around the world, but here I felt like the employees really cared about me and went about fulfilling my most simple requests with a genuine smile.

On my next visit, I will definitely take more time.  Firstly, I will train my game at the 9-hole Pitch & Putt, before adventuring onto some of the best golf courses in Europe.

And I decided that I will not only make use of this beautiful beach, but will also dive into the gourmet cuisine at the “Ocean” restaurant and try some of the delicacies at the Spa!
